What do I do now? – What will your next step be after successfully completing the PADI Instructor Examination? Many newly qualified scuba diving professionals go straight out to gain dive work and begin their scuba diving career as they are now qualified. Others prefer to gain some real diving work experience prior to gaining dive employment. With P J Scuba's (Mermaids Career Development Center) new “Diving Life Internship” and “Diving Life IDC Staff” programs you can start teaching diving and working right after the IDC, AND get some valuable experience to put on your diving CV, making you more attractive to any dive industry employer. Training and diving in Pattaya will set you up for all dive destinations due to the diverse training dives sites that we have.

All of the programs can be upgraded to the next level at no additional charge.

1. The “Diving Life” Specialty Instructor (MSDT Starter) Package

PADI Instructors enrolling in this option will receive a CD-ROM including 23 PADI Specialty Instructor outlines. Instructors will present lectures to a PADI Specialty Instructor Trainer and field questions pertaining to those Specialties. The course is designed to prepare you to teach at least 5 PADI Specialty Courses of your choice (extra specialty ratings may be available on request for a small fee).

Some goals you will accomplish:

• Present Specialty Course lectures to a PADI Course Director (Specialty IT), and discuss standards and marketing for 5 PADI Specialty Diver Courses.

• Achieve 5 PADI Specialty Instructor ratings of your choice.

Cost: 30,000 Thai baht - exchange rate -  (in addition to any Mermaid’s IDC Package Fee)

Includes: PADI Fees for 5 Specialty Instructor Courses and 5 Specialty Instructor Outlines.

2. The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer Certification - MSDT

The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating is awarded to a PADI diving instructor that can teach a minimum of 5 PADI specialty courses and has experience in teaching 25 students dive courses. To hold this qualification demonstrates to a dive employer that you have good experience in teaching and also can teach a range of specialty courses. This makes you more valuable to the dive center.

The “Diving Life” Traineeship – PADI Instructors enrolling in this option will be taken on as part of the P J Scuba Staff for a period of 2 months after the IE and post-IE courses have been completed.  During this time you will have access to all the benefits of a member of P J Scuba's instructor team. Some goals you will be able to accomplish:

• Record at least 25 PADI Certifications - teaching dive students.

• Achieve 5 PADI Specialty Instructor ratings.

• MSDT or Master Scuba Diver Trainer certification.

• Unlimited diving.

• Add 2 month’s dive work experience at a PADI Five Star CDC to your CV.

• All fees paid.

Cost: 84,800 Thai baht - exchange rate

(Please note: If entering the Master Scuba Diver trainer program from another dive center - Mermaids CDC requires an interview with our PADI Course Director prior to acceptance. This is to ensure that the diving instructor is right for representing Mermaids Dive Staff.

3. The PADI Staff Instructor Certification

The “Diving Life” IDC Staff Instructor – PADI Instructors enrolling in this program will be taken on as part of the P J Scuba Staff for a period of 3 months after the IE and post-IE courses have been completed.  During this time you will have access to all the benefits of a member P J Scuba’s instructor team. Some goals you will be able to accomplish:

• Record at least 25 PADI Certifications.

• Achieve 5 PADI Specialty Instructor ratings.

• Achieve the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.

• Achieve the PADI IDC Staff rating.

• Un-limited diving.

• Add 3 month’s diving work experience at a PADI Five Star CDC to your diving CV.

• Includes Course Director Paper Manual (Bookings from 23.01.07)

• All fees paid.

Cost: 127,300 Thai baht - exchange rate - (MSDT and Staff combined)

Cost of Staff alone: 66,500 Thai baht - exchange rate
