An
Introduction
My name is Peter,
Piedro, Pelle,
del pierro even PJ - up to you, I have been called worse but I am sure that my parents
would prefer my given name of Peter. I found a passion for scuba diving in 1999, and after my first experience I was hooked.
The
beautiful coral islands, shipwrecks, reefs and fish here in Thailand (All
over Thailand) - it was
stunning. Pretty
much since then I have been doing very little else. This is not to say that
I am an idle man. It simply means that I fell in love with the underwater
world and like to spend a vast amount of time there. I always maintain
that a bad day's scuba diving or snorkeling certainly beats the hell out of your best day in the
office, EVER! Unless you had some luck at the Christmas office
party that is!
Here I am with a group of great pals on a
live-aboard trip to the Similan islands in the south of Thailand. I'm the
skinny fella to the right. (Not one of the chicken wings on the great barbeque
for any of you wise guys.) I organize a fair few dive trips each year in
or out of season. It's always great diving, great scenery and mostly
fantastic FUN with great company! If you are interested in joining one of our "Friend's
Trips" Contact me for more info. The
Similan trips are my favorite and are
always on the same boat as we have an excellent rapport with the crew. The
dive-masters are superbly friendly and very professional, the service great and we
dive a couple of unique
dive sites.
I took my dive training from
Open Water to Scuba Instructor training through Mermaid's CDC (Career
Development Center) in Pattaya, Thailand (www.learn-in-asia.com).
After qualifying I taught scuba diving alongside a good friend that I had
met on the same program. We ran Larry's
dive gaining great experience of not just the physical diving side of
an operation but the back end logistics, shop front, even the accounts and
I was always awful at math! We built the business very well indeed. Itchy
feet fell upon us and my buddy traveled on (still in touch) and I then
worked all over the country organizing trips and teaching scuba classes.
On my travels I have to say that I have met some of the most interesting
and enjoyable people through diving. That's a great aspect of diving - the
society. One thing about divers...right up there with diving for the
thrill and/or the beauty; we dive to hang (literally in some cases) with
old buddies and meet new ones! Have a little look at a few photographs
from a couple of the "Friend's Trips" that I run a few times a
year. These are trips where there is an active working allowed policy
(apart from hammering the laptop to show us the underwater pics and vids).
A few of the guys and gals from the dive industry join me from time to
time as it is wonderful to dive yet for pleasure. Any one is welcome but
there are usually a couple of familiar faces (you know who you are:-) - come and join us - it's
ALWAYS great fun with wonderful diving. The NOV 2003
trip can be seen here. / March

My PADI training was to OWSI (Open
Water Scuba Instructor). Once at Larry's dive I progressed through MSDT (Master Scuba Diver
Trainer) PADI
Instructor. For those "not in the speak" basically this means
that I am able to teach scuba diving in various specialty fields. PLEASE
check my mission statement also.
My love and my life is
scuba diving. It is my life and my income (why hide it)? Everyone has to make a
living somehow, right? Well, this is what I do. I advertise a lot of
snorkeling, diving and diving-related activities on my website. Most of which I
conduct alone (competently I might add). However, I don't claim to have the
highest achievements in town for every skill. What I do is in fact
fair...teach what I can and introduce customers to the very (VERY) best
alternative instructors in town to teach in areas where they excel my
experience. Hey, everyone has to have limits, right? All teaching and
activities can be taken in Pattaya, Koh Tao, Koh Samui, Phuket or the Similans
or Surin islands. When I rarely refer a
customer - this costs the diver no more -
In actual fact I will usually achieve a GOOD
discount for the customer/friend.
Just say that I am a "one man band" (with Dive masters & staff)
that can cater for all of your dive training, diving, snorkeling, relaxing (Hotels
and transfers etc) needs - IN ONE STOP
- as long as it involves water in some capacity or at least a watering hole!
Since mid 2003 I have
been specializing in Scuba Diving Internships (Traineeships) for the adventurous
looking to work dive jobs overseas and live abroad - or maybe even take
their learned skills and knowledge to home shores. Mermaid's PADI CDC in
Pattaya whom are responsible for ensuring that my passion for diving never
faded are now saddled
with me. Stephen Blumenthal, Managing Director and PADI Course Director of
Mermaids and I have worked relentlessly in bringing new innovative
all-inclusive dive instructor training packages together for the students.
PADI Divemaster and Instructor training is our base with Public Safety
Diving (instructor) courses (PSDivers), top-side dive engineering courses
(ASSET
and more...), PADI continued education and dive career development (MSDT,
PADI Staff, Master Instructor and more...), Technical diving
Instructor training courses (Deep
Tec) to an entire suite of DAN, PSA, PADI and PADI distinctive
specialties. Our specialties even run into Self-sufficiency diver, Full
face mask and even dry suit! Yes, that's right...a dry suit course in an
average of 27 degree heat. We'll sweat with you to ensure that you have
the sufficient and necessary training to go on and dive anywhere.
